Posted on July 8, 2014 by Tom Wade MD

On December 29, 2011, I posted “Safe Contraception Prescription Guidelines from the CDC” based on the 2010 CDC Guidelines. Since that post there have been some additional updates.

Here is the link to U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 2010: Adapted from the World Health Organization Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 4th edition. Here are links to two updates to the document:

Update to CDC’s U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 2010:
Revised Recommendations for the Use of Contraceptive Methods
During the Postpartum Period from the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Vol. 60 / No. 26, July 8, 2011.

Update to CDC’s U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, 2010:
Revised Recommendations for the Use of Hormonal Contraception Among
Women at High Risk for HIV Infection or Infected with HIV from the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Vol. 61 / No. 24, June 22, 2012.
