Dr. Farkas reminds us that everyone with urosepsis requires an imaging study to rule out urinary tract obstruction which can be present in a significant percentage of patients.

Use an ultrasound to rule out hydronephrosis if you can but, if because of patient size you get a non-diagnostic ultrasound, go ahead and get a non-contrast stone protocol CT scan.
