Psychiatric Research‘s Ketogenic Diet Intervention on Metabolic and Psychiatric Health in Bipolar and Schizophrenia: A Pilot Trial [PubMed Abstract] [Full-Text HTML] [Full-Text PDF]. Psychiatry Res. 2024 May:335:115866. doi: 10.1016/j.psychres.2024.115866. Epub 2024 Mar 20.
Website: https://taperclinic.com/ In this video, I guide you through groundbreaking research which suggests that a ketogenic diet can improve both mental health and metabolic health, especially for those with conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
The study tracked the health of a group of people living with these conditions as they switched to a keto diet. The results were amazing: the participants saw improvements in their mental health and well-being. Besides this, they lost weight and improved their metabolic health to the extent that, by the end of the trial, those with metabolic syndrome saw it reversed. The findings are impressive enough, but we also get to hear the powerful testimonies of the patients themselves.
Could this be a game-changer for mental health treatment? I think so! Medications can cause metabolic side effects; knowing that dietary interventions can restore metabolic health at the same time as improving mental health is good news for everyone.
