In this post, I link to resources from The COVID-19 Tool Kit from The Johns Hopkins Center For Health Security.

The COVID-19 Testing Toolkit

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tests can be used to detect active infection (using diagnostic antigen– or molecular-based tests) or past infection (using a serology-based test). Antigen, molecular, and serology tests are crucial tools to fight the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes COVID-19.

COVID-19 testing is a fast-growing field that is evolving as our understanding of SARS-CoV-2 improves and more test manufacturers enter the market. Tests are important to identify in what communities the virus is spreading, who has the virus, and how the virus is spreading. Testing is equally crucial to treating patients and informing good public health decision making during the pandemic.

Whether taking a test prescribed by your doctor or choosing a test for your employees, it is important to choose the right type of test to provide the most useful information. Testing services are now available that offer tests and testing strategies to organizations. The COVID-19 Testing Toolkit provides information about specific tests and testing services to help employers or decision makers develop strategies to fit their testing needs.

Antigen and molecular tests for COVID-19

The diagnostic testing field for COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and improving in quality. Antigen and molecular tests can be used to identify current SARS-CoV-2 infection. This resource provides information on antigen and molecular tests for COVID-19.

Serology-based tests for COVID-19

Serology (antibody) tests can be used to reveal previous SARS-CoV-2 infections. This resource provides information on serology tests that are available for use by researchers and healthcare professionals.

Testing Services

Testing services are now available to help businesses, organizations, and schools to implement testing programs.

Testing Services

Testing is one of many public health tools that should be used to combat the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

Testing services are now available to help businesses, organizations, schools, and others provide testing in a way that makes sense for them.

Many factors should be considered when choosing a testing service, including the time to results, types of samples needed, and the type of test used. The factors will vary based on your goals and objectives for testing. This selector tool can help you determine the services that may fit your needs.
