As an acute care clinician it is critical to be able to perform lumbar punctures and there are many techniques to be successful. My favorite technique is to walk the needle in to the correct location using the inferior spinous process as a “guide.” In this video I explain how to perform this technique which has helped me to be successful with performing lumbar punctures myself or guiding residents and students to a successful lumbar puncture.
